Library Seeking Shelving Donations

Yates Community Library is seeking donations of shelving for an on-going book sale.  The shelves can be metal or wood.  The shelves must be at least 14 inches deep.

January Events

Here’s what’s going on at Yates Community Library in January:January 3-10:  Fine Free Week - Bring back overdue books during the first week in January and we’ll excuse the fines!January 3-31:  We now offer a disc repair service.  Try it free through the end of January!

January 3-31:  Rochester artist & woodcutter Bruce Fernandez will be displaying one of his carousel animals during library hours.

Jan. 8, 11 AM-12 PM:  The library’s “Lunch Bunch” Book Club will discuss Thomas Mullen’s “The Last Night on Earth”.  Light refreshments will be available.

January 12, 6:30-9 PM:  “Jammies in January” - Wear your favorite “PJs”, and enjoy popcorn & family films with your friends at the library!  Call (585) 765-9041 for film showings.

January 25, 3:30-4:30 PM:  Joyce Bennett will teach us how to create a snowman paperweight.  This event is open to all ages!

January 26, 10:30 AM-12:30 PM:  Wool Felting Class:  Joyce Chizick will share her knowledge of the interesting craft of wool felting.  There will be a nominal charge of $5 for supplies.  Please prepay & register by January 19!

Jan. 26, 7-10 PM:  Teen Night @ YCL:  Games, “PS2″, films, food & more for teens in grades 6-12.  The library is asking for a $1 donation to cover pizza & pop.  Call the library for more information.

The library will be offering basic Spanish classes every Tuesday from January 29 through the end of March.  The class will be taught by Annie DeJesus from the Holley Agri-Business Child Development Center.  Space is limited; pre-registration is required.  Please call the library for more information & to pre-register.

Jan. 31, 3:30-4:30 PM:  Rochester artist & woodcarver Bruce Fernandez will conduct a carousel animal carving demonstration.  There will be a coloring contest & the audience will have a chance to help Bruce with his carving!Check back here for more events!
